Spring is in the air, and that means it’s time to get your yards looking their best! Dakota Prairie Composting is thrilled to announce the return of our FREE Yard Waste Drop-Off Program this May, with a brand-new location to better serve you. We understand the importance of keeping our communities clean and green, and we’re here to help you dispose of those leaves, branches, and other yard debris responsibly. This year, we’re excited to offer this service at our new, easily accessible location:

Who Can Participate?
This program is open to residents of Chaska, Louisville Township, Prior Lake, Savage, and Shakopee as well as to employees of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. Simply bring your driver’s license showing proof of residency or your SMSC team member badge to participate.
When Can You Drop Off?
We are excited to offer extended drop-off hours for this event—an improvement over last year’s Sunday-only drop-offs. This year, you can drop off your yard waste six days of the week for added convenience and flexibility. The program runs from May 1-31, during our regular business hours:
- Monday-Friday: 7am-5pm
- Saturdays: 8am-2pm
- Closed Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day)
The program will also be available in October this year; stay tuned for October drop-off days and times.
What Can You Bring?
Bring your leaves, grass clippings, branches, and other yard waste. Review our Residential page to understand what we accept. We will also have compost, compost blends, and colored mulch available for purchase during the event at Dakota Prairie Composting for all your landscaping needs.
